Tempo

Structure for cooking during a trekking route,  a game between the functionality and sensitivity of nature enthusiasts and cuisine.

It is born from a concept that speaks of ritual, reintegration and reconnection of the user and the product with nature.

I want to give the user the possibility to travel to another time and place while eating, just by setting the perfect environment for physical and mental relaxation. One can enjoy after a long day of physical effort, a pure state of immersion in the wilderness when being away from the hectic rhythm of city, our noisy surroundings and everyday stress in which we are accustomed to live in.

“Tempo” is the most critical aspect during the development of this concept. It is rooted in the principle that each living thing in the wilderness has its own time to carry out different actions, simple movements, and these have to be respected in order to flow. In the same way, cooking requires above all, patience to obtain a perfectly balanced outcome. Hence, this concept is ultimately related with our most primitive and essential tool for cooking, fire. This structure is purposely designed to respect the own pace of fire and take advantage of all of its stages and processes. One can enjoy the best quality of produce offered by nature at its purest state when cooking them outdoors by boiling or heating vegetables, or even make good use of the remaining embers to cook meat or fish.

It is a simple, yet practical and intuitive structure constituted by three titanium bards that give the form of a tripod. It allows the users to adapt it to every type of terrain, enabling different set of heights so that one can make good use of the fuel. This tripod is supported by two rings, one in the bottom and another one at the top, which can be used as a grill and where the casserole also fits. Moreover, in severe or adverse weather conditions where the impossibility of firing in the area exists, there is the possibility of using the burner with two solid fuel pallets, in which the casserole and grill are also adapted.

As it is an object that is primarily used to make mountain routes, it was critical to take into account such aspects like its weight and an optimal use of space, since they are one of the main obstacles when performing outdoor activities. For this reason I have decided to use titanium, a lightweight, highly resistant material which can be equally practical, since it can also be a particularly compact storage mechanism.
